Sello SICELE

El SICELE es una iniciativa multilateral de una red de instituciones de enseñanza superior de países de habla hispana y del Instituto Cervantes que se comprometen a la armonización, la transparencia y la coherencia en el reconocimiento mutuo de las certificaciones del dominio de la lengua española a hablantes de otras lenguas.

El sistema vela por que los productos o servicios relacionados con el español como lengua extranjera que ofrecen estas organizaciones se rijan por criterios de calidad y compatibilidad, y estén, a su vez, en consonancia con la utilización de buenas prácticas y los estándares internacionales del sector.

Las organizaciones que forman parte del SICELE se comprometen al apoyo y al reconocimiento de las certificaciones de la competencia lingüística en español que lleven el Sello SICELE.

Este marchamo de calidad se otorga en el ámbito del SICELE a los sistemas de certificación que se han sometido a los procedimientos de verificación del cumplimiento de los estándares de calidad SICELE, por los que se guía la gestión de los procesos implicados en los dispositivos de certificación lingüística del español como lengua extranjera o segunda lengua.

What is SICELE?

SICELE is a multilateral initiative of a network of higher education institutions from Spanish-speaking countries and the Instituto Cervantes. These institutions are committed to harmonization, transparency, and consistency in the mutual recognition of certifications of Spanish language proficiency for speakers of other languages.

The system ensures that the products and services related to Spanish as a foreign language offered by these organizations comply with criteria of quality and compatibility, while also aligning with best practices and international standards in the sector.

Organizations that are part of SICELE commit to supporting and recognizing certifications of Spanish language proficiency that bear the SICELE Seal.

This quality mark is awarded within the SICELE framework to certification systems that have undergone verification procedures to ensure compliance with the SICELE quality standards, which guide the management of the processes involved in certification systems for Spanish as a foreign or second language.

El Sello SICELE es el distintivo que la organización concede a los sistemas de certificación lingüística que han superado con éxito los procesos de verificación del cumplimiento de los estándares de calidad. Las instituciones miembros que dispongan de sistemas de certificación del conocimiento del español deben someterlos periódicamente a estos procesos de verificación, con el fin de garantizar su grado de madurez, que quedará avalado con el Sello.

La misión del SICELE consiste en armonizar los criterios de gestión de los sistemas de certificación del conocimiento del español a hablantes de otras lenguas, promoviendo y apoyando el uso de buenas prácticas, fijando estándares, verificando su cumplimiento, y facilitando el reconocimiento oficial de los diplomas y certificados que forman parte del sistema, en condiciones de reciprocidad. La visión del SICELE se basa en alcanzar la excelencia, hasta convertirse en referencia internacional, en la gestión de los sistemas de certificación, de enseñanza del español, de formación de docentes y de proyectos de investigación, a través de la reflexión, la mejora continua, el intercambio de experiencias y de conocimientos o buenas prácticas. Estas actuaciones redundarán en beneficio de la comunidad hispanohablante, reforzarán el prestigio de la lengua española y potenciarán su difusión.

SICELE Seal

The SICELE Seal is the distinction granted by the Sistema Internacional de Certificación del Español como Lengua Extranjera to language certification systems that have successfully undergone verification processes confirming their compliance with established quality standards. Member institutions that operate certification systems for Spanish language proficiency are required to submit them periodically to these verification processes in order to guarantee their level of maturity, which is validated through the awarding of the Seal.

The mission of SICELE is to harmonize the management criteria of certification systems that assess Spanish language proficiency among speakers of other languages. It promotes and supports the use of best practices, establishes standards, verifies their implementation, and facilitates the official recognition—on a reciprocal basis—of the diplomas and certificates that form part of the system. SICELE’s vision is to achieve excellence and become an international benchmark in the management of certification systems, Spanish language teaching, teacher training, and research projects. This is pursued through reflection, continuous improvement, and the exchange of experiences, knowledge, and best practices. These initiatives ultimately benefit the Spanish-speaking community, strengthen the prestige of the Spanish language, and promote its global dissemination.
